Information about the tour values: during the course of the tour, some activities are carried out with the purpose of fostering essential values for the players’ personal and athletic development, such as sportsmanship, self-improvement, fellowship, effort and commitment. Two actions are taken: players voluntarily fill out questionnaires about their performance in a match or in the tournament; and they are rated for a position in the ranking of values, which may provide a place in the final tournament, based on the following aspects:

  • Attitude: the player’s behavior and attitude throughout the tournament will be evaluated, both on the court and during the off-court values activities.
    • Court: performance and behavior during the matches.
    • Values activities: player’s attitude when carrying out the off-court activities.
  • Values activities: regarding the activities created to train the different values and attitudes, the following elements are taken into account:
    • Participation:a proactive attitude adds points.
    • Results: they are evaluated according to different factors (number of participants, characteristics of the activity, etc.).
    • Record: there is the possibility to register personal best or collective records in some activities.
  • Behavior: inappropriate behavior during the tournament is penalized, among others:
    • Abuse: inappropriate use of the racquet and verbal abuse.
    • No handshake: refusal to shake hands with the opponent at the end of the match.
    • Not to apologize: lack of apology when the occasion requires it.
    • Sportsmanship: unsportsmanlike behavior during the tournament in the locker rooms, hotel, restaurant, court.

The implementation of the values training is indeed an essential element of the tour and one of the factors that have contributed to its unique character.
